FAQs for people receiving volunteer support

What kind of help can I access?

What kind of support is available from Volunteer Responders?

At the moment the following support is available via self-referral:

  • Check In and Chat: A volunteer provides telephone support to people in need of a friendly phone call and encouragement to improve mental health and wellbeing.
  • Check In and Chat Plus: This is a regular chat with the same volunteer over a 6-week period if you feel you are particularly vulnerable. This could be if you have been recently discharged from hospital, have a health condition, are experiencing social isolation or loneliness, have caring responsibilities or are waiting for elective surgery.
  • Community Response: A volunteer will help with collecting prescriptions, lateral flow tests or shopping for those with a current health need.

You can call our self-referral phone line to make a referral onĀ 0808 196 3646.

An additional service, Pick Up and Deliver is also available but this requires a health or care professional to refer you. This relates specifically to people who may need medication or medical equipment delivered to your home, usually before or after a stay in hospital.
